A: It’s a no brainer that word of mouth can do amazing things for your business, but the internet right now IS king. You have to start showing up on your local search sites. When people search online for an agent, and they will, they will likely start off with someone there (unless they were referred!)
If you are not already active on the forums (like Trulia) and social media, start! Let your friends and family know, or remind them what you are up to and that you are looking for buyers and sellers all the time. Let them know they can send anyone they know who is looking around or even just has questions. If you are that go to guy for friends of friends to call for advise, you will become the go to guy when they need to buy or sell.
Another great piece of advice for anyone you work with from now on, if you haven’t already been doing this; send a hand written thank you note to every buyer and seller you do business with. It’s a fact that people keep handwritten notes longer than they will your business card. 😉
