I don’t think it’s a matter of if you’re creating an online presence, it’s a matter of how, right? At least I hope this is the case. That you are, one way or another, making an attempt at creating an online presence for ‘YOUR NAME’.
Creating an online presence is essential whether you’re a real estate agent, a business owner, author, photographer, massage therapist, singer, manufacturer, distributer, or almost anything in which you offer something. Did you know that according to internetworldstats.com, from the year 2000 through 2011, internet user stats have increased 286.8%? That’s in the U.S. alone!! It’s over 580% in the rest of the world.
According to the 2011 National Association of REALTORS® Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, 88% of home buyers are using the internet for their home search. 2011 REALTOR® Technology Survey says “90.5% of Realtors are using social media to some extent”. Are we using it to create our online presence, that’s the question!
I’ll give you one more tidbit about the internet I heard recently: Google says about 50% of the content online today is video…and guess what, only 8% of realtors are using video!!
If some of this info doesn’t completely enlighten you, empower you and hype you up to get yourself known on the internet, then we’ve got some intense interventions to take care of. 😉
To my fellow real estate agents and brokers: you know the business, you’ve struggled through the good and the bad times and you are still here. Make the absolute best of it and spend some time focusing on the current trends and activate yourself online. You know those people you look up to and wonder how they have so many followers or how everyone seems to know them, or how they stay busy in today’s market. You CAN be that real estate agent! I want to see you succeed and I want competition to stay fierce.
It takes 21 days to create a habit. Spend the next 21 days focusing at least 30 minutes a day on your online presence (as easy as sharing some of your knowledge on a forum), and I guarantee you will see some results. It’s not about how many people you know. It’s about how many people know YOU!
